FREELANCER TIP

Let’s get real: if you're still working without a contract, you’re putting your income, time, and energy on the line, whether you realise it yet or not. I work with many freelancers, and I see this all the time that they lost out big because they either had no contract or the contract they did have didn't cover what they needed!

A contract isn’t just about legal protection. It’s about:
– Setting expectations
– Preventing scope creep
– Getting paid on time
– Creating clear boundaries
– Looking professional (because you are)

Even if a client seems chill, things can get messy fast when deliverables or deadlines aren’t clearly agreed on in writing. The right contract sets the tone for a respectful, professional relationship and gives you something solid to stand on if anything goes sideways.

At minimum, your contract should cover:

• Deliverables & timelines
• Payment terms + late fees
• Cancellation and refund policy
• Scope of work (and what’s not included)
• Boundaries around communication & revisions
• What happens if you have an unforeseen emergency?
